Bloody Mexicans!

A couple of us were put through for G class locos up here at Werris Creek the other day, and were told we'll be getting a few XR's as well to add a bit more green to all the yellow and blue here.

Dunno if PN are getting the G's off coal or out of Victoria, but they should be here next week and the XR's in about 3 weeks.
A few early series X's are going to Northern Coal as well to replace the 48's on the SMR, so I'm told.
If that's the case, we'll probably end up with the PL's as well....
You'll like the G's Chris, except for the brake valve on the right side they are a pretty good cab layout.

That rumour has been around for ages and I cant see it ever happening, the cab set up of a earlier X class wouldn't pass for lead unit in North Coal. Not to mention the additional weight on the restricted perway of the SMR. 48'ers, PL's and 76t NHTF's are the only things out there for a reason.
There is also talk that PN wont put in a bid  for the Pelton contract once its up.

The 7 G's that North coal ended up with are a bunch of lemons, G520 has spent more time in EDI thanit has working trains and when it gets a run itsoff as soon as it gets back.
All 7 units will needed to be fitted out with country net radios before coming leads units and a good clean. Bring back the 7 82's that were traded with south coal.

SilverSpurCoote are supposedly interested, but there's that stumbling block of actually having rolling stock and locos...
And, er, crews too....
XR 555 is at Cootamundra for crew training at present, it goes to Sydney for a wheel turn then who knows, a further 2 at least are due into NSW in the coming days

That would explain why X36 is getting a new donk after God knows how long with a piston-sized hole in the old one, and X37 is similarly being pulled out of mothballs.
It's funny to see these things on both sides... on the one hand, Foamer Joe says "Coolness - some more old loco's to watch and photograph"!

On the other, train crew required to work them most likely think "Great. More antiquated shit to spend hours "nursing" to get home with little comfort"!
