Where are all the 4000 class garrets

Does any one know where and if there are any 4000 class garrets opperating?

Do you mean the S.A.R.'s 400 Class Garratt? Only two survived the great Blow Torch massacre! 402 is stored at the Zig Zag at Lithgow and the other, 406 (?) is located in a museum near Adelaide. Neither have been restored to operation!  :'(

Cool. I thought the 400 at zig zag was a going concern now?

Then what is the class of garret the NSW had? :confused

AD60 Class.

Take a look here for the whereabouts and condition of ex-NSWGR steam locos.

That would be 409 at the National Railway Museum, Adelaide. Ex-SAR steam locos here.

12 months ago there was talk that 402 was going back to SA in exchange for another loco. Haven't heard anything about it recently though.
