While getting 5527 the shopping trolley ready to go up to Allieds at West Tamworth with 48119/48125/48115 this morning noticed 4850 in Werris Creek loco with its exhaust scrubber removed, a normal exhaust stack has been fitted but the bracket to hold the scrubber is still fitted on the No2 end. Coupled to 4850 was 48130 newly fitted? with the exhaust scrubber from 4850.

ARG's 5982 ex Gunnedah this morning was G512/GM10/T387/2208.

About time they took it off 4850. Enfield crews must have finally told PN to shove that particular 48'er up their fundamental orifice...

ARG 9581 presented itself this morning with 3101 T387 T385 and 2204.

Something must have happened to 8138 on the Ardglen bankers as it was noted in loco with it being replaced by 8003 and 8027 to form 4 80's, same format as when the 72's first started running. 8003/8045/8027/8012 all back together loading wheat at the sub terminal this morning.

MZ and 4498 noted on the IRA West Tamworth job as well.

Two SCT G's through Thornton on the Up with a high-wheeler at 0515 this morning. Are they being hired out to QR or is this an SCT Service???

Saw that railset, but didn't see the loco's! IRA went north through us at Hexham around 0100 heading north.

Trolley, got back to Broadmeadow at 0115, not bad after leaving at 1630!

Nothing was wrong with 8138, it's just that another 72 longer shat itself going up the hill (the second one in 16 hours, mind you). The train was dragged back to Willow Tree and 8138 was put on the front of the three 82's while the remaining two 80's went back to the Creek to pick up two more 80's.
8138 was then returned from Newcastle on the next available coalie.

Spotted outside Goninans on Wednesday - 9201 (undergoing static testing - sounded rather nice) and 3 QRN 5000s that I can't remember numbers, except for 5009, which was sitting right up in the Western shunting neck.
"I'm a great admirer of the racehorse. And I thought if you could put 2000 racehorses together, it'd make a very good locomotive! And it did." - Harold Young, on 3801, August 1970.

A bit of an old sighting (2 Jul 2008), but here is an image of the flour mill at Summer Hill and 8007 which happens to be below (which has been commented on by Michael James!).

As to something more recent, spotted a very short train from Wongawilli Colliery to Port Kembla at Unanderra a bit before 1pm a few days ago with a single 48 (48157?) and 8 wagons. Was nice lighting but unfortunately I did not get a photo as I was in KFC at the time. Wonder if these have a timetable, an interesting run as it's a freight as long as a spark.

G512 was on an ARG train to Nowra thru Unanderra too - never thought that I would see an SCT locomotive in Wollongong.

ARG 9581 behind 2208 and 3102 at Nea, getting stuck into this train before the orange and black diesels disappear.

0630 Wednesday Patricks 1573 noted in Werris Creek yard with 3xEL and 4903 detaching 5 NQFF container wagons, wagons were taken to West Tamworth for loading by two Pacnat 48's later in the morning.
