Hopes high for rail trail success

The Silverton Village Committee hopes the recent success of cycling will attract tourists when the region's cycleway is finished.
The Silverton to Broken Hill cycleway runs along the old tramway line and is set to be completed by mid next year.
Treasurer Jim Neilson says TAFE New South Wales is hoping to get started on constructing bridges for the project soon.
Mr Neilson says cycling is becoming a popular form of transport and recreation.
"The exposure that cycling's got through international success and the Tour Down Under in Adelaide," he said.
"I'm sure that people will be going on holidays who are specifically interested in riding these cycleways.
"As I say, it's going to be a very great success I'm hoping once all the planning and so forth has been conducted.
"You've only got to look at the number of caravans, four-wheel drives, motorhomes that have bicycles on the rear of the vehicle. So it is becoming a very much more popular form of transport.
"A lot of people can leave their caravan or motor home in Broken Hill, ride out to Silverton for the day and return in the afternoon.
"I mean there's no severe grades on the actual tramways, it will be suitable for people of all ages."
