Meandarra Line Resleepering
#11
For months now sleepers for the western line upgrade have been loaded into QRs specialised sleeper wagon string at the old QR Tbar container terminal just north of the station and hauled out there, believe the M'darra branch is receiving sleepers the same way...

Any idea, Graham, if the work has started? Or when, please? Regards,

John, I believe the work started before I began this thread.

Our daughter goes to work at Tara from Oakey most days & she said that work was going on near Myall creek crossing  a couple weeks ago now so they should be well out passed there.

All timber sleepers being used on this job. I have been told that lots of steel sleepers have been removed around the Brisbane area, but it is not known where they will be reused. The Meandarra line job continues apace. Work would seem to be currently under way around Bungybah, heading toward Goranba.

Good news for the branch, maybe QR's interest in steel sleepers is fading, the State Government announced on Friday the last steel sleepers on the Mt Isa line will be replaced with concrete by 2017.

They have reached The Gums ahead of schedule, now twiddling their thumbs waiting for more sleepers to complete to Meandarra...
